7th May 2014 Port Thasos, Thasos Island The Lovely Old Port of Thasos Today we have Hired a Car and we Plan to Take a Tour Around the Island The Island has Thousands of Old Olive Trees In Areas there are Many Hotels for the Tourists that arrive in the Warmer Months Thasos Island has some Beautiful White Sandy Beaches The Season has not Started yet so there are Only a Handful of People on the Beaches Lots of Empty Chairs Looking out over the Turquoise Water There are Lots of Charming Hotels on Thasos Delightful Ports are Scattered Around the Coast Wonderful Bays to Visit by Boat Turquoise Water can be Found in Many Bays on Thasos We Arrive at the Archangel Michael Monastery situated between the Villages of Astris and Aliki on the South East Coast No Shorts for men and Only Skirts for Women Allowed The View Overlooking the Sea was Absolutely Stunning !! Although no Photos were Allowed, all the Visitors were Snapping Shots of the Amazing View from the Monastery Ric did his Usual Trick !! The Bougainvillea was so Colourful all Around the Monastery The Coastline of Thasos is one of the most Beautiful we have Visited The Archangel Michael Monastery We Leave the Coast and Head Inland and Pass Thousands of Olive Trees Beautifully Painted Bee Hives There were Thousands of Hives all Painted and Sheltered by Ancient Olive Trees We Stop for Lunch in the Hills at a Delightful Roadside Taverna called Bethel in the Tiny Town of Maries Great Greek Salad Lamb Souvlaki Only on the Menu for Lunch Today George’s Home Brew George the Restaurant Owner told us we were the First Australians to Visit his Restaurant in 30 Years The Wonderful Chef, George’s Mother Old Dry Stone Walls with Old Dry Olive Trees Boat Houses Along the Shore Back to the Old Thasos Port Diana is Cooking a Curry Tonight Sunset Over Thasos Port Great Curry for Dinner Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
