2022-05-02/03 Hobart, Tasmania to Sydney, NSW, Australia

Due to several delays in our departure from Hobart Airport, we finally arrived at our destination late in the evening on the 2nd of May in Balmain in Sydney

We are fortunate enough to stay with friends in their Air B&B which is located at the rear of their property surrounded by a beautiful garden
Annie in front of her delightful home
Late afternoon after a well earned restful day we all head for the Balmain ferry terminal which will take us to Barangaroo, a controversial development on the shores of Sydney harbour
As we set off on the ferry we look back to the restaurant where we intend dining later this evening
It was a good opportunity to spend time with John and Annie in Sydney prior to our long awaited return to Europe
Although controversial, one must say the buildings of Barangaroo look quite spectacular
Although not completed, it is believed a park is being developed behind the artistic wall that surrounds the development site. A bike and walking track have already been completed by the water’s edge which is very popular to the number of people using them
We visit the Biennale of Sydney, an Art Installation at the Cutaway in Barangaroo. This below-ground concrete space is used for large-scale events underneath the Barangaroo headland
In the grounds nearby we came across several large blocks on display. Some showed movement scenes and some blocks were mirrored which attracted many amateur photographers such as myself!!
Our next port of call was the rooftop bar above the Cutaway exhibition space
By lift and a few stairs, we arrive at this wonderful bar with spectacular views of the harbour and the approaching sunset
Cocktail time !!!
After sunset cocktails in Barangaroo, we return to Balmain Ferry Terminal to dine in the nearby restaurant
As The Fenwick Restaurant is always very busy, it was fortunate Annie had made a booking well ahead of time!
We shared wonderful Sydney Rock Oysters with passionfruit, white balsamic vinegar & lemon balm and a dish of Kingfish with rainbow radish, chilli, kaffir lime & tiger milk
The men both enjoyed the Spaghetti with mussels, calamari, prawns & bottarga
Annie ordered the Barramundi, with leek and broad bean puree, daikon remoulade & Kipfler potato chips
As I needed some good protein, I chose the Beef sirloin with flat mushroom, sweet potato & red wine sauce. The dish was beautifully tender and delicious
We all enjoyed the Italian Fiorini Chianti
We shared the Raspberry cheesecake white chocolate ice cream & fresh raspberries
We also all had a taste of the Hazelnut mousse with whipped ganache & passionfruit
