6th May 2014 Kamariotissa, Samothraki Island to Port Thasos, Thasos Island Early Morning we had to Vacate the Quay as a Large Ferry was due to Dock where we had Stayed Overnight Although there was still Quite a Strong Wind Blowing we made a Decision to Leave the Port and Motor to Thasos With the Wind Directly Behind us the Journey was Quite Comfortable There Appears to be Marble Mines on Thasos Island We Arrive in the Thasos Port Port Thasos was Built on the same Site as the Ancient City The Entrance to the New Harbour of Port Thasos We Decide that the Old Harbour would be a much Nicer Experience for us What a Beautiful Little Port !! The Old Port Looked Quaint and Inviting All the Local Small Fishing Boats are Moored Here Once Docked we had Small Fishing Boats on Either Side of us It Took a While with Several Helpers to Work out the Power and Water on Offer Directly at our Stern was a Cafe and Nearby were Several Tavernas A Local Fisherman Heading Out for a Late Catch Tangaroa in Thasos A Metre from the Boat we Dined at the Mythos Restaurant For Starters we Enjoyed Mussels, Beans in a Sauce and Dolmades with Tzatziki Stuffed Peppers, Pork Chops and Fish were Our Choices Tonight It wouldn’t be Greece if there were no Cats at your Feet in the Tavernas !!
