4th May 2014 Plaka, Limnos Island to Mirina, Limnos Island Scrambled Eggs for Breakfast this Morning The Coastline along the Northern Coast of Limnos Island has much Rugged Beauty Sidheritis Island off the Northern Eastern Coast of Limnos Well Down the West Coast the Town of Mirina Appears Behind it’s Small Islets at the Entrance to the Bay Mirina is the Main Port of Limnos Island The Medieval Castle Overlooking the Mirina Port On our Arrival at the Town Quay we were Greeted by a Couple of Local Gentlemen Our New Friends Yanis (John), Cafe Owner Naftilos and Panagitus (Ringman) Ringman, the President of the Fisheries Industry on the Island and his Nephew, Sokrates Our Friends Organised for us, a Hire Car for the Afternoon and we Set off for a Drive to Moudhros in the South of the Island After Arriving in the Port of Moudhros we all Decided to Stop and have a Late Lunch at a Local Restaurant by the Port Quaint Colourful Fishing Boats were Plentiful at the Moudhros Quay There were also Plenty of Felines Waiting by the Nets Nearly 100 Years ago the Port of Moudros was used for the Marshalling Point for the Attack on the Dardanelles. The Large Deep Harbour was Full of Large Battleships, Hospital Ships and many more of all Shapes and Sizes from the Allied Forces. The Greek Church of Moudhros The Town of Kontias is Sited Between Two Volcanic Outcrops There are many Sandy Beaches all Around the Island The Countryside of Limnos is Lush and Green, with Simple Farmhouses and Windmills Looking West In the Distance, Mount Athos on the Akti Peninsular on the Mainland can be Clearly Seen We Return to the Mirina Port Time to Visit the Castle The Northerly Coastal View from the Castle After Climbing Up to the Castle a Cool Refreshing Drink was in Order A Pizza Dinner Aboard with Our New Friends Plaka to Mirina, Limnos Island Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
