2019-09-10 Luka Velji Lago to Kremena Cove, Lastovo Island, Croatia

After arriving very late and in the dark we were pleased with the beautiful surroundings we found ourselves in this morning
We pick up our anchor and make our way out of the bay to head to the the main town to formally check in to the country
Before we got too far, a Police boat arrived beside us and instructed us to follow the boat to the nearby check in point
Once tied up along the pier by the customs building we head ashore with our passports and boat papers
Since our last visit to Croatia with the Tangaroa in 2011 the authorities have changed a lot of rules and regulations!! One must now check into customs immediately on arrival. As we had arrived so late and in darkness we were unaware of this new rule!! As we were followed by the authorities by radar the prior night and did not formally check in, we had to pay a fine on top of new charges for how many days or weeks we intend sailing in Croatian water!!
Once we paid our fine and mooring fees for the following weeks we moved the Tangaroa to the nearby wharf
While at the custom building we enquired about a mechanic to fix our generator (which ended up only needing an impeller replacement). A pleasant young local man called Christophe came to our help and also repaired the bracket for supporting the dinghy, which had broken off during our crossing
Once Christophe had finished the work he had done for us, we left the small port (near the town of Ubli) to go and anchor in a nearby bay for the night
Once anchored it is finally time for a well earned swim
Interesting underwater sea creatures
