2019-08-21 Amalfi Port to anchoring off Grand Hotel Tritone, Amalfi Coast, Italy

We have had a wonderful position overnight moored along the port wall in the town of Amalfi
We have made the decision to leave the port this morning as the weather today is very hot and perfect for anchoring out and doing a lot of swimming
Once out of the Port of Amalfi we continue north east up the coast
The Amalfi Coast is a stunning area of Italy
Amazing houses, castles and hotels cling to the steep cliffs of the coast
We pass the ancient town of Maiori which has the longest unbroken stretch of beach on the Amalfi coastline
Spiaggia Cavallo Morto a popular sheltered bay has too many boats for our liking so we continue further along the coast
The scenery is certainly very spectacular along this rugged beautiful coast
Not being able to find a suitable large enough bay to anchor, we turn around and decide to head back along the coast to where we had anchored briefly the previous day
We continue back past the lovely town of Amalfi where we had a berth overnight
Passing Il Duoglio Spiaggia a very popular beach with a unusual bar and several restaurants ashore
The GAS bar
The Grand Hotel Il Saraceno in Conca dei Marini
Fiordo di Furore is a popular tourist attraction along the coast
Marina di Praia again looks quite crowded on the tiny beach
Left of the Minerva Tower overlooking the water is the Africana Famous Club which is a modern disco club built in an ancient setting
Continuing south west we head towards the islet, Scoglio dell’Isca
The narrow coast road along the Amalfi Coast is well known to be one of the narrowest and busiest roads in Italy
Hotel Bellavista
We return to the lovely anchorage below the Grand Hotel Tritone
Betsey loves swimming in the beautiful warm and clear water
Time to rest
The Grand Hotel Tritone has a lift to take house guests down to the waterfront and the small beach at the bottom of the massive cliffs
The guests may alternatively prefer to walk up the hundreds of steps to the hotel
We have some company anchored in the bay
With perfect conditions forecast we decide stay here on anchor overnight
Anthony is the chef tonight cooking us some wonderful mussels
The mussels are cooked in a delicious chilli tomato sauce
Still quite a few people on the nearby beach
The super yachts are lined up like soldiers off Positano !!
Another fabulous Amalfi Coast sunset
