2019-08-20 Marina del Cantone to Amalfi Port, Amalfi Coast, Italy

Another perfect day on the beautiful Amalfi Coast
Nice memories again of a wonderful dinner at Maria Grazia last night
We depart from Marina del Cantone to continue east towards Positano
Looking back towards Capri and Scoglio Vetera in the foreground
Looking back towards Capri and Scoglio Vetera in the foreground
In the distant we see town of Positano
There are some beautiful little coves and beaches along the coast
We pass a group of three small islands off the coast of Colli di Fontanelle, with Il Gallo Lungo being the largest island
Approaching Positano
Positano is one of the most popular and stunning destinations of the beautiful Amalfi Coast
The beach at Positano in the summer months is always extremely crowded with hardly a lounge chair and umbrella free
We continue a short distance along the coast to find a suitable place to anchor for a few hours
We anchor nearby off Arienzo Spiaggia Libera
Ashore is the Arienzo Beach Club which advertises a “Scenic beach with restaurant service”
Our family are off on the paddle board to explore …. as per ususal
On the eastern side of the beach is a stunning home with a magnificent garden and grounds
Time to go for a swim and check the anchor
Positano is only a short distance away
We check out Arienzo Beach
Everyone returns to the boat for some lunch under the front awning
More swimming and crazy diving in the afternoon
By 3 pm we decide to pull up the anchor and continue along the coast to the Amalfi Port where we have booked a berth for two nights
On the way to Amalfi we pass numerous amazing hotels and villas such as the Grand Hotel Tritone which was built precariously on top of a very high cliff overlooking the sea
We pass by Vettica Maggiore and Priano
Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Gennaro a beautiful church in district of Praiano
The 800 year old tower stands overlooking Marina di Praia
Every beach along the Amalfi Coast seems to have standing room only!!
Next we pass San Michele
Passing by Torre Capo di Conca
The popular Il Duoglio Spiaggia at the base of massive cliffs, is situated only a couple of kilometers from the town of Amalfi, our destination
Finally Amalfi comes into view
Entering the Amalfi Port
We were fortunate to still have the name and phone number of the port operator from our last visit here a few years prior. Again at a reasonable cost, we were able to secure a couple of nights tied up along the town wall of Amalfi Port
Hotel La Bussola located by the water opposite our mooring is where we first stayed on the Amalfi Coast with friends in 2003 for a few days when travelling around Italy
We have a great view of Amalfi from our mooring
Anthony, Sarah and Betsey are off to explore the town
