2019-07-17 Sant Carles de la Rapita, Costa Dorada to Blanes, Costa Brava, Spain
We are conveniently woken early this morning by a low flying single engine aircraft doing circuits over the marina and the townAfter wintering the Tangaroa here at Marina Sant Carles for the past three years, we are finally leaving and returning up the coast of Spain and retracing our steps of the past yearsWe make an early start as we intend travelling all day during the hours of daylightIt is sad to leave as we have made some very good friendships here in Sant Carles de la RapitaGoodbye to Sant Carles de la RapitaAs we motor up the Spanish coast we have wonderful calm and pleasant conditionsAfter 10 hours of motoring at approx 8 knots per hour we pass BarcelonaNumerous large freighters are moored off the large port of BarcelonaA freighter crosses our bow as we continue our journey northeast up the coast of Catalonia in SpainLooking back to the numerous cranes of Barcelona, one of the largest shipping ports of the western Mediterranean As we continue up the coast there is a change in the weather conditions with rain showers and some thunder and lightningAfter approximately 220 km (122 nautical miles) and 14 hours of motoring we arrive in the familiar town of Blanes. Three years earlier we had spent a few days moored off the delightful seaside townAgain we chose to anchor rather than enter the marina at BlanesAlthough we had booked a restaurant in Blanes which we had enjoyed before, we decided to cancel and have a simple salad aboard due to the rain that had decided to fall!!
