2019-05-20 Hotel Ife, Lima to Inkaterra Hacienda Hotel, Urubamba, Peru

Unfortunately today it was time to say goodbye to our Peruvian family and fly to our next destination
After a slight hiccup with our flight we finally board a Latam Airlines flight to Cusco
The flight which took about an hour flew us over some amazing barren mountainous terrain
Landing in Cusco, south east of Lima
Situated 3,400 m above sea level the former Inca capital of Cusco is one of the most popular destinations in Peru
It was great to have a local representative collect us at the airport
Pierina and driver Efrain
From Cusco airport we are driven north for over an hour to our accommodation in the Sacred Valley
The scenery we passed on the way was absolutely stunning
We pass through some small towns
Just before dark we arrive at the Inkaterra Hacienda Hotel
A fabulous view of the surrounding mountains can be enjoyed from the front of the hotel
Once we check into the hotel we head towards our room
In the internal courtyard there are a couple of small shops selling these gorgeous rugs and clothing
Our wonderful accommodation
A delightful large sitting area in the main building of the hotel
The bar looks inviting!!
The restaurant
After a lengthy day of travelling it was time to try out the restaurant
Tonight we try a vino tinto from Argentina
Beef tenderloin with some interesting sauces was my choice
Ric enjoyed a slightly different beef dish served with french fries and rice
An earth to table concept is operated at the hotel where the vegetables and herbs are grown in a 10 acre organic plantation nearby
An amazing choice of desserts was on the menu!!
