2018-08-25 Es Calò, Isla Formentera to Cala d’Hort, Ibiza, Islas Baleares, Spain
We wake up to quite an overcast morning for a change
Late morning we decide pull up our anchor and slowly make our way back to the main island of IbizaHeading back up the east coast of Islas Formentera and S’Espalmador we pass many vessels on anchor in the beautiful bays, some larger than others!!Titania, a 73m luxury motor mega yacht and is available for charter for up to 12 guests. It was built in 2006 and refitted in 2018. Apparently it is owned by a billionaire who was the founder of Phones4U …… anyone interested in a charter…..!!Once again we pass Illa des Penjats, the southern most islet of Ibiza with it’s conspicuous lighthouse, which is one of the oldest in the areaWith the sun shining brightly now we pass several boats heading out to the popular islands south of Ibiza, where we have just spent the past few daysOnce again we approach the coast of Southern IbizaA very popular anchorage for the rich and famous is off the exclusive area of Es Cubells on the western side of the south coast of IbizaWe approach the two islands, Isla de es Vedrà and Isla de es Vedranell, on the south western tip of IbizaOpposite the islands is the historical landmark of Sa Pedrera, where stone was once quarried in the 16th century and rock formations and faces were carved out of the stone cliffs by man …. unfortunately we did not get to see them
We soon arrive at one of our favourite anchorages in the Balearics, called Cala d’HortThis bay has one of the most iconic beaches in Ibiza, located on the southwest of the municipality of Sant JosepWe are very fortunate to find a suitable anchorage very close to the buoyed off swimming area of the bayWe are not alone in the popular bay as there are always plenty of other visitors here by boatAmazing quaint boat sheds line the shore between the hilltop restaurant and the beachCala d’Hort has three restaurants, two by the beach and the other one on the hillsideMore boats arrive during the afternoonWe head off for our usual swimming routine!!
The wooden boat sheds look amazing along the shorelineThe steps lead to the elevated restaurant overlooking the bay
Early evening there are still many people on the beach enjoying the sun, sand and the waterDinner tonight in the best restaurant in the bay …. aboard the TangaroaWe enjoy a fabulous fresh tomato and chilli pasta dish from our menu tonight!!Quite a superb sunset over one of the islands
Later we have a full moon appear to finish a great day!!
