2018-05-23 Sant Carles de la Rapita, Costa del Azahar, Spain

Tonight we take our friend Ricci to dinner as a thank you for all the extra work he has helped us with on the Tangaroa
Canbatiste is the restaurant attached to a small boutique hotel
We have heard the food was very good here and the restaurant itself was very nice also
We decide to try the chef’s choices menu…….our first dish that arrived were the olives marguerita
…..followed by a couple of amazing local fresh oysters
As usual we sample one of the local vino tintos
This wine had the most amazing nose and accompanied our small dishes beautifully
All the dishes were beautifully presented
Raw monkfish with avocado…wonderful
Amazing local cockles served with a wonderful sauce
We tried the sea slugs which were surprisingly tasty
The deep fried cuttlefish served on a spool were amazing
Next we were served a seafood risotto with Norwegian lobster and shrimps
Grilled monkfish with grilled vegetables was the last of the main dishes
The cheese course came next with local white cheese served in parcels to be devoured together…..they just melted in the mouth
A refreshing palate cleaner came next
We order a dessert wine to accompany the next course
This quite sweet amazing wine is produced in the Terra Alta wine area which is quite close to Sant Carles
Our final dish is a luscious mocca chocolate pudding served with whipped cream
