Once again we approach the port of Marciana Marina
Once again we approach the port of Marciana Marina which is close to the wonderful bays we had anchored in for several days
Having had many nights on anchor we decided to have a night in the actual marina in Marciana Marina

Once Tangaroa was secured in the berth we had booked, we took off to collect the hire car we had also booked yesterday!!

We pick up our small car from a local car rental company by the eye catching blue building along the foreshore

Once we collected our vehicle we drove back along the foreshore
Once we collected our vehicle we set off for some sightseeing out of town
We head out of town in the direction of Marciana, one of the hilltop villages overlooking the harbour

Before exploring the hilltop villages we take the lift to the highest peak in Isola d'Elba, Monte Capanne at 1019 metres

At first the small open cages did not look very inviting for someone that is scared of heights

The trip up the mountain took us 25 minutes
Looking up the steep slopes to the summit of Monte Cappane looked quite daunting!!

We can see the village of Poggio as we go ascend the slopes

The view is quite spectacular as we go higher

Once at the top we were able to enjoy the panoramic views in all directions

Once safely back down in the ancient 13th Century village of Marciana we enjoyed exploring the quaint old village

On our return to Marciana Marina we stop at a lookout and see the lovely bays where we have spent quite a few days

We arrive back at the Tangaroa early evening and decide to try one of the restaurants for dinner tonight
We arrive back at the Tangaroa early evening after a very pleasant trip into the nearby mountains and then a quick trip to Portoferraio to a Tim shop to recharge Ric’s precious phone!!

After dinner we take a nice stroll through the lovely town
