The scenery is absolutely spectacular — The scenery is quite spectacular and has been described as one of the most stunning in the Mediterranean

We enter Golfe de Girolata — We enter Golfe de Girolata which is nearby and only separated from Golfo de Porto by a small cape called Capo Senino

The mountains and ravines of Golfe de Girolata make the access to the village mostly by boat

The rugged red rocks of this part of the coastline are visually unique

Daytripper boats laden with tourists weave around this amazing coast

North of Punta Rossa is the Scondola Nature Reserve

We follow the tripper boat through the narrow and shallow Gargalu Passage

Again the scenery here is quite incredible

The wind slowly is starting to pick up so we continue up the coast

As the wind was increasing we first try Golfo de la Revalatta to anchor in for the night

We still had a good view of Calvi from our safe anchorage

Time for some Japanese Slippers before dinner!!

Ric cooked us a lovely fillet steak and chips for dinner tonight!

we are on Australian flagged sailing boat “Pavlov” in the area of northern Sardinia at the moment. We are heading north to Corsica. How did you find it? thinking of going up east coast. anchoring preferred.
great to see other Australians up here. What sort of boat do you have?

  We have just spent a couple of months in Sardinia and Corsica and have totally enjoyed both islands. It is a wonderful area for cruising. Last Oct we left our boat in Marina di Capitana near Cagliari for the winter and returned in the beginning of May. Corsica is stunning and we think the best part of the island is from Porto Vecchio in the south east around to Bonifacio (a must) and up the west coast all the way around to Bastia in the north east. The middle east coast we have heard is less interesting as the land is flat so we have not cruised this area. Naturally you have to check the wind forecast if going up the west coast as anchorages are limited if you have any winds from SW to NW. We had good weather however were held up in Calvi for a couple of days. We anchored out a lot during our time in Corsica. The scenery on the west coast is truly unique in our opinion. We have been cruising the Med for 6 years now and have done most of the eastern Mediterranean !! La Madelalena Islands and the Lavezzi Islands certainly beautiful too.
  We are in Elba at the moment, also stunning!!
