2015-09-10 Portoferraio to Gulf of Barbatoia, Isola d’Elba, Italy Our lovely position in the old harbour of Portoferraio Time to move on after a few days in this lovely area around Portoferraio Portoferraio, the capital of Isola d’Elba is the most beautiful port on the island Once out of the old harbour we continue past the town on our way along the coast Lo Scoglietto with it’s miniature lighthouse is close to the entrance to Portoferraio old port Punta Capo Bianco with it’s lovely beach As we continue west along the north coast we approach Capo d’Enfola A busy beach near the small town of Viticcio It appears sailing is a popular sport in Golfo di Viticcio We pass Procchio with it’s small hillside villages nearby Marciana Marina, a popular anchorage for sailors travelling along the north coast of Elba The ancient tower along the breakwater of the Marciana Marina The coastline along the north coast is also quite stunning Sant’ Andrea is on the north west tip of Isola d’Elba Fishing from the unusual white rock formations seems to be great pastime for the locals of Sant’Andrea The prominent lighthouse of Punta Polveraia on the west coast A couple have found a private spot on this deserted seemingly inaccessible beach The small west coast seaside town of La Guardia Another grey sand beach near the south western town of Fetovaia We arrive at our destination in the south western bay called the Gulf of Barbatoia A few other boats are moored in the bay for the tonight The town of Fetovaia in the narrow Gulf of Barbatoia Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
