2015-07-18 Pecorini a Mare, Filicudi Island to Santa Marina Salina, Salina Island (Aeolian Islands) Sicily
We leave the small port of Pecorini a Mare on Filicudi IslandFrom Filicudi Island we motor east over to the next island, Isola Salina which has two distinct peaks from two extinct volcanosOn the north west corner of Salina Island under Pollara is some very dramatic coastlineThis area is very popular for swimming and many small day tripper boats come here tooFor those who arrive by car or motor bike, parking is a distance away over the hill and from there many stone steps will bring you all the way to the waterThe well photographed cliffs as seen on many brochures from the islandTime to cool off and have a swim and take a few more photos!
Finally it is time to move on and find a mooring for the nightOn the east coast of Salina, off the town of Santa Marina we join several other boats and drop our anchor for the nightWhile having a quick swim we noticed a large painted white concrete star under the boat in about 4 metres water !!By dinghy we motored to the south of the village to the restaurant that we had bookedThis small church held a wedding service only a few hours agoSuch a wonderful view of the distant hills still bathed in warm sunshineIl Gambero was recommended to us by an English couple who have been living on the island for some time nowA plate of fresh raw seafood is one of the shared entreesA mixture of Sicilian delicaciesFreshly cooked mussels
