2015-07-06 Cala Marino, Marettimo Island to Punta Longa, Favignana Island We wake up to this amazing scenery in Cala Marino on Marettimo Island We take the opportunity to make an early start to go to one of the other islands The main town of Marettimo lies in the middle of the east coast of the island We depart from Marettimo Island which is the mostly westerly of the Egadi Islands off western Sicily The lighthouse at Porta Sottile on the west coast of Favignana Island, our next stop The Argonese fort on Mount Grossa is quite conspicuious from the main town in Favignana Quite a lot of congestion at the entrance to the Favignana Port The Galley Sheds of Favignana An attractive vessel from Valletta in Malta is moored near the harbour Our plan was to find a nice place to have a swim and Cala Rotunda certainly ticked all the boxes Cala Rotonda has crystal clear turquoise water and being another hot day, it did not take long for a flotilla of local boats to arrive. It is wonderful to see how many of the locals from the islands and from the nearby mainland towns, use their boats!! Many tourists and holiday makers go on day tripper boats which take them to lovely bays on the islands After a few hours we continue on to Punta Longa which is a safe anchorage in the south The small town with it’s colourful houses A couple of yachts have already moored in the bay Local sailing under way The beach nearby is crowded with people enjoying the hot weather Some other Australians in the bay tonight!! A very simple dinner aboard with salad, steak and potatoes Ric with his new toy – our barbecue, all the way from Australia !! Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
