2nd June 2014 Volos to Koukounaries, Skiathos Island
Today we leave for the beautiful Northern Sporades Islands. It was a nice surprise when Craig and Cory called past in the morning in their tender to bid us farewell. Prior to our departure we entered the fishing dock to refuel where I had an enjoyable conversation about photography with the operator’s wife. Anta happens to be an aspiring photographer and artist. Once underway we left Volos and continued back south through the gulf and again we passed back along the Trikeri Peninsular and continued east to Skiathos Island. The island is a small picturesque island of approximately 50 square kms which gets extremely busy in the summer months. It is a well know tourist spot for the citizens of the UK as there are regular direct flights to and from the island from the UK. For our first night we enter Koukounaries, a beautiful large bay on the south west side of the island which has a large resort and is a popular bay for the rich and famous. Many large yachts are usually on anchor in this beautiful bay.
