1st May 2014 Bebek, Bosphorus Strait to Marmara Port, Marmara Island A Very Early Start for us Today as we Intend Travelling all the Way to Marmara Island in the South East of the Marmara Sea The Savarona was the Yacht Built in the Early 1900’s and was Used by Ataturk the Famous Turkish Leader Sunrise Over the Bosphorus Early Morning Shadows over Istanbul The Ciragan Palace which Operates now as a 5 Star Luxury Hotel The Galata Tower Overlooking the Entrance to the Bosphorus Haghia Sofia was Built more than 1400 Years Ago The Blue Mosque Nearby was Built Later in the Early 1600’s Local Fishermen make an Early Start to their Day Once out of the Bosphorus in the Marmara Sea, Many Huge Ships Lie on Anchor by the Strait Approaching Marmara Island the Scarred Hills of the Marble Quarries come into View Breakfast is Served ! Diana Enjoying the Breakfast Experience on Anchor in the Saraylar Port Marble Statues Line the Shores of the Small Marble Mining Town on the Mid North Coast of Marmara Island Continuing down the West Coast of the Island we Arrive at the Marmara Township John Looking Quite Jovial Today !! Entering the Peaceful Old Marmara Port A Space is Available for us Amongst the Fishing Boats in the Old Port Looking Back to the Entrance A Fisherman Arrives with Fish, Lobster and a Rather Large Octopus for Sale John Decides to Purchase a Local Lobster The Tangaroa Surrounded by Local Fishing Boats At the Local Market we Meet Emin who Spends 6 Months in Istanbul and 6 Months on Marmara Island Every Year Our New Acquaintance, Emin Invites us to his Delightful Villa to Collect some Local Wine to take to the Restaurant he Suggested we all Dine at this Evening The Lovely View over the Water from Emin’s Villa 10 Minutes from the Main Township The Boys ! The Girls ! The Main Street of Marmara Town Great Dinner Tonight in the Small Local Restaurant Called “Pasazula” Meat Souvlakis, Grilled Vegetables, Salad on the Menu Tonight and Esme (a Spicy Chilli/Tomato Meze) Specially Prepared for us for Starters The Municipal Dogs of Marmara Gathering in the Street No it is Time for After Dinner Tea at Boncuk Emin Ordered Island Tea which was Recommended for Good Sleep Last Stop Before Returning to the Boat!!
