15th September 2013 Marmara, Marmara Island to Cakilkoy Our Departure this Morning from the Memorable Marmara Port The Same Local Guys Back Fishing at the Entrance to the Port The Cluttered Housing Overlooking the Water Heading North up the West Coast of Marmara Island Passing Cinarli Plenty of Dust from this Marble Quarry Nearby The North West Corner of Marmara with Hayirsizada Island in the Distance Where Freighters Often Overnight Before Heading to the Black Sea A Deserted Rugged Bay in the North of the Island, Recommended by a Turkish Local A Perfect Bay for Us to Stay Overnight or Stop for a Swim Rather than Dropping the Anchor we Tie Up to an Old Concrete Jetty Surrounded by Big Blocks of Marble Deciding to Continue, we Motor East Along the North Coast Passing Saraylar where we had Visited by Car the Previous Day So Many Ships were Waiting in the Port to Load up with Marble for Export Almost Circumnavigating Marmara Island we Head South West to the Kapidag Peninsular on the Turkish Coast Approaching Kapsul Burnu on the North East Coast of the Peninsular Cakilkoy Harbour Near the Point is a Safe and Secure Port to Stay Overnight Once Securely Tied Up at One of the Piers in the Port, with the Kind Assistance of a Group of Well Dressed Local Gentlemen, we set off to have a Look at the Small Fishing Village Nearby we Came Across a Cow Being Milked !! A Tractor Comes up Behind us, Carefully Driven by a Lady !! The Cutest Little Boy was Sitting in the Tray of a Tractor No Doubt a Safe Playpen for this Little Guy A Building Surrounded by Tractors A Very Proud and Friendly Mother Appears, Pulling Her Children Along in Cart Made from a Fish Box What a Pair of Cutties !! Local Ladies Enjoying a Relaxing Moment Together, Including Grandma in the Doorway !! Right Next Door was Another Group of Friendly Local Ladies – a Bag of Freshly Picked Figs was Placed into my Hands by one of the Ladies The Man of the House Insisted on Having His Photo Taken !! Excited Sisters Quickly Posed for a Photo !! The Mother of the Little Boys, Quickly Pushed Them in Front of the Camera !! For People that have so Little, were so Generous with their Friendliness and Genuine Smiles The Pretty Young Girls were all Cleanly Dressed in Bright and Colourful Clothing Finally Mum Comes to Rescue the Little Boy from the Tractor to Make Sure he Does Not Miss Out on a Photo !! Little did She Know !! Another Fishing Boat Arrives into the Port Our New Friends Insist on Organising a Couple of Kilos of Live Shrimps for us from the Boat – They Seem to Own all the Vessels in the Harbour !! The Proud Fishermen Other Fishermen Tend to Their Nets After Their Arrival The Town Square with a Statue of Ataturk on Horseback The Inner Port for Slightly Smaller Boats and Cats Waiting for Dinner !! Quite a Narrow Entrance to the Cakilkoy Harbour Around the Port Area there are More Tractors Parked than Cars !! Young Boys Already Interested in Fishing and Spending Time Around the Port Boys are the Same Everywhere !!! Ric Finds it Hard to Peel the Raw Shrimps !!! He Thought he Would be There All Night !!!
