13th September 2013 Canakkale to Marmara, Marmara Island via the Dardanelles Tangaroa in Canakkale Our Departure from the Municipal Marina There is Quite a lot of Traffic Behind us in the Dardanelles Today We Recognise the ‘Wind Spirit’ from Last Year in Greece The Turkish Flag is Very Prominent in All Parts of Turkey It is Great to See so Many Dolphins in the Area It Magic to See the Sails Up on the Wind Spirit What an Amazing Sight to have this Sailing Ship Come Up Beside Us As She Passed us we Felt we could Almost Reach Out and Touch Her This Certainly was the Highlight of Our Dardenelles Experience Much Later the Wind Spirit was Under Full Sail Without the Assistance of the Motor and Like the Tourtise and the Hare, we Caught Up and Overtook Her !! A Memorable Experience !! Once in the Marmara Sea with the Condition so Calm, we Continued to the Island of Marmara In the Distance One of the Many Ships in the Marmara Sea Head Towards Istanbul As we Approach Marmara Island, the Major Port of Marmara comes into View The Marmara Township Cute Little Houses High Up in the Hills Overlook the Harbour The Local Mosque Seems to Glow in the Fading Evening Light The Long Seawall of the Marmara Port The Entrance to the Ancient Marmara Port Unfortunately no Space Along the North Pier for Visiting Yachts and Small Fishing Boats With the Help of Some Friendly Turkish Guys, we Tied the Tangaroa Along the Pier Between the Fishing Boats The Small Inner Port by the Restaurants Cats and Dogs Wait Patiently Together for Leftovers from the Patrons in the Restaurants How Cute is He !!!! Ric’s Birthday Dinner at the Bolis Restaurant Ric’s New Turkish Friend from Bursa Candles and Cake Organised by Our New Friend Happy Birthday Ric !!
