2018-08-23 Punta des Carritx to Es Calò, Isla Formentera, Islas Baleares, Spain The water is so clear and calm this morning that we can see our chain running out towards our anchor Only a few boats here early this morning Ric is off into the lovely clear water Lines of people, some carrying their dry backpacks, wade through the chest level water between the two islands of S’Espalmador and Formentera On both sides of the sand spit are lifeguards overlooking the water, as the tide can be strong rushing between the islands Looking back to the Tangaroa from the water By late morning the crowds started arriving by ferry and by private boats Ric heads ashore On the eastern side of the islands there were numerous pleasure craft and yachts already moored in the prime position along the sand bar between the two islands Lots of people walking between the islands A day tripper catamaran laden with visitors arrive in the area nearby Once back on board we make the decision to move further south to enjoy some different surroundings We leave the crowded foreshore and beaches behind Looking back into the far distance we can see the outline of Isla de es Vedra off the south west coast of Ibiza Sailing in this part of the Balearic islands is always very popular There is also no shortage here of large super yachts and large motor cruisers A playground for the rich and famous!! Another popular beach and resort is off Punta Alta on Formentera Off Torre de sa Punta Prima is a popular anchorage for some of the larger super yachts We continue southeast towards Es Calo on Formentera island Some boats are more in a hurry than we are!! Others quietly sail towards the popular anchorage Numerous boats are anchored off the quaint town of Es Calo Once we anchored it wasn’t long before we had some more company come and join us Time to go for another long swim Fortunately 100 m off the shoreline for quite a distance along the beach there are lines off buoys which make it safe for swimming Ric has our Aussie barbecue well heated up to cook our steaks for dinner tonight Finally it is sunset after a long day Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
