2018-06-02 Puerto de Denia, Costa Blanca to Puerto de San Antonio, Ibiza, Islas Baleares, Spain After again checking the weather forecast for the next few days we decided the changed conditions were far better today than tomorrow for a crossing to Ibiza Island Our intention was to stay another night here in Denia and leave first thing in the morning We decided to leave and unfortunately did not get a refund for the 2nd night we had already paid, even though it was less than an hour past midday!!! Will not recommend this place to anyone as this has never happened in 8 years of cruising the Med!!! Leaving the port of Denia Denia is situated about the mid coast of Spain and from here we start our 5 hour journey across to the west coast of Ibiza We travel across to Ibiza with overcast and reasonably calm conditions, with a gentle breeze behind us After 5 hours of comfortable motoring we near the island of Ibiza As we get closer to the Island we encounter some unsettled conditions and a confused sea As it was still early enough, we make the decision to head towards the northern part of the west coast We pass the rocky outcrop of Isla del Esparto …..and continue on to the north west coast islands Once around Isla Conejera the wind conditions for an overnight anchorage will be better The lighthouse on Isla Conejera Crossing Bahia de San Antonio Puerto de San Antonio will be a good anchorage for us tonight San Antonio is one of the main tourist centres of the island, has a large port which allows maritime traffic of passengers and goods with the peninsula Arriving in the port, the marina looks very full however we always prefer to be on anchor and fortunately being such a large port there is an allocated position for visiting boats to anchor We find a comfortable anchorage among the several dozen boats in the harbour A day tripper boat returns to the port with loud music and the young passengers dancing!!! At sunset numerous people gather on the beach at San Antonio to watch the sun go down Our dinner of perfectly cooked steak and stir fried vegetables….of course with a hint of chilli The cloud formation resembles a shoreline with trees and vegetation not unlike a sunset photographed from the water of Bruny Island in our state of Tasmania!!
