2017-07-29 Bahai de Alfacs to Marina Burriananova, Burriana, Spain

This morning we finally begin our journey following the Spanish coast in a south westerly direction

Goodbye to Sant Carles de la Rapita where the Tangaroa was wintered at the end of our last season

Looking towards the incredible mountain range called Serra del Montsià bordering the Delta D’Ebre and the town of Sant Carles de la Rapita

This time we pass the cement factory at Alcanar by water!!

In perfect weather we continue down the coast passing the towns of Vinaros and Benicarno

In the distance we can see the fortified town of Peniscola which we had visited by car several days ago

The town of Peniscola has seen a lot of development over recent years and now become a very popular Spanish tourist destination due to of the wonderful fortified castle and the beautiful beaches along the coast

We approach the Peniscola fortified castle

The present fortified castle with the lighthouse was built on the rocky headland 67 m high between 1294 and 1307

With the temperature in the high 30’s there is hardly much space left on the popular beach beside the castle

The rocky headland where Peniscola Castle is located is joined to the mainland by a narrow strip of land

We continue down the coast of the Costa del Azahar

We pass the unusual large hotels that almost look like a row of army tanks lining the shore to the north of Oropesa del Mar

This area of the Spanish coast is a very popular budget holiday destination

Beautiful sandy bays are flanked by hotels and apartment blocks

We continue down the coast heading towards Burriana

We pass the oil drilling platforms off the coast of Castellon

We drop our anchor for a short while beside the Burriana Port to have a swim before going into the marina

After a refreshing swim in the very hot weather we make our way towards the port of Burriana

Several large motor yachts are moored in Burriananova

Once allocated a berth at the marina we settle ourselves in and make plans for the evening

We leave the Tangaroa later and head for the restaurant that one of the pleasant marina staff suggested we try

We sit down at the Le Chic Bar at the marina to have a drink before dinner

We have a good view of the Tangaroa from our seats

Ric orders us a couple of generous gin and tonics!!

After our very refreshing drinks we head out to the entrance to the port to the El Morro Terraza Restaurant

When we first motored into the port we noticed this circular shaped building that resembled a restaurant/bar. Restaurants in Spain usually open at around 8.30 pm and as we did not have lunch we booked early and were one of the first to arrive!! By the time we left the restaurant was full and there was a queue of eagerly waiting patrons!!
