2016-08-23 Vieux Port, Marseille to Anse des Laurons,Provence, France Our lovely live aboard neighbour, Dani bids us farewell We carefully make our way out through the narrows space between the piers The busy pier where we were berthed for the past few days Looking back as we make our departure from Vieux Port Marseille Fort Jean is on our starboard side as we leave the harbour On our port side, high up on the hill is the Notre Dame de la Garde Fort Jean beside the spectacular modern building which houses the MuCem The Palais du Pharo overlooks the entrance to the harbour La Major Cathedrale has sections that date back to the 11th century Once out of the port we head west across Rade de Marseille Continuing west along the Chaine de L’Estague or better known as La Cote Blue, a limestone hilly coastline A number of small towns are dotted along this coast We pass the lighthouse on Cap Couronne near Port de Caro There doesn’t seem to be much room left on the beach here today!! It appears that large chunks of rock have been harvested from the coast here Near the town of Caro there seems to be a popular designated area for people with motor homes travelling along the coast The four chimneys of the Les Laurons power station can be seen from a number of miles away As there were not many anchorages along this part of the coast we decide to anchor nearby in a small bay south east of the power station called Anse des Laurons By late afternoon we were the only remaining boat in the bay The locals look like they enjoy fishing from the rocks until quite late here Spectacular sunset over Anse des Laurons Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
