2016-08-15 St Tropez, Cote d’Azur, France Today we decide to go into the old town for a late lunch Most of the large yachts that were moored at the entrance overnight departed the port very early in the morning Entering the port at this time, 1pm is less congested than when there is a major exit between 10am and midday The harbour is lined with pretty pastel coloured houses St Tropez attracts some quite incredible looking large motor vessels!! A very attractive well cared for traditional motor launch prepares to leave the harbour L’Opera is a favourite lunch or dinner venue for the rich and famous Celebrity spotters hover around the chic restaurant Along the foreshore of the harbour are numerous restaurants and shops catering to the thousands of tourists visiting the town every day Although this restaurant stands out being totally decked out in red, it is a little hard on the eyes being a patron!! The back streets are also full of small eateries and shops Le Dit Vin is a very popular casual bar and restaurant in St Tropez For those interested in shopping there are many exclusive shops in town Eglise paroissiale Notre-Dame de l’Assomption The unmistakable bell tower that stands proudly above the famous town Deciding it was time to have our late lunch, there was no shortage of choices along the waterfront We found a table at Le Quai, both facing the water, out of the hot sun with fine spray mist cooling us down! Le Quai is a chic restaurant all decked out with mirrors to capture the full view of all the vessels parked along the foreshore The speciality of the restaurant for lunch was the fabulous sushi which we had to try and really enjoyed! While in St Tropez we also had to experience the local famous Tarte Tropezienne made with a light brioche dough and served with custard Late afternoon before dinner, the restaurant becomes a bar for those wanting to watch the world go by and the fiasco of many large boats being moored while having a cocktail or two The grand Chanel House Nearby is the Chateau St Tropez – looks amazing on the internet We head back to our little dinghy after a visit to the local supermarket We feel dwarfed as we pass by the large vessels still in the harbour The Quai where we had a lovely late lunch!! As we depart a few large motor yachts are arriving It can be very congested at the narrow entrance to the port Finally back to our little palace!! Once again the super yachts start their usual parade of queuing up to enter the port for the night Sunset over Golfe de St Tropez Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
