2016-06-22 Porto Vecchio to Carla di Giunco, Ile Lavezzi, Corsica Ric and Michele went ashore in the morning to sort out our French phone and internet data Finally we manage to get away well after 2pm We leave the Golfe de Porto Vecchio and head back south along the coast As we travel we again pass one of the many beautiful beaches on the south east coast We pass the luxury privately owned island, Ile Cavallo Just south are the familiar Lavezzi Islands We enter Carla Lazarina, where we have anchored overnight once before Unfortunately there wasn’t enough room for a boat of our size in the stunning little bay tonight Nearby is Cala di Giunco which was a better option for an overnight anchorage for us Ric drops Michele and I ashore so that we can have a walk around the tiny island There are unusual wind eroded rocks all over the island Near our anchorage is the cemetery for those sailors who lost their lives in a shipwreck back in 1855 We follow the well worn path to Carla di Chiesa We pass the familiar elephant rock The beautiful bay, Carla di Chiesa No doubt the noticeable cross in the rock inspired the name of the bay On our walk we pass fields of wildflowers framing little bays The memorial on the small island in the distance The anchorage in Carla Lazarina is one of the most beautiful small anchorages we have experienced in our travels Another cemetery for the shipwreck casualties from 1855 situated by the beach in Carla Lazarina The beach in Carla Lazarina is usually full of day trippers however tonight it is completely empty We leave the beach and head back to Carla Giunco When we get back to our anchorage Michele decides to swim back to the boat Tangaroa in Carla Giunco A wonderful sunset this evening A simple dinner of steak, salad and chips aboard tonight Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
