21st August 2013 Emborios, Khios to Pasas Island Ric Heads Ashore to Find an ATM to get some Euros Emborios is a Tiny Town, with Only a Shop, a Taverna and Unfortunately no ATM or Bank Most of the Yachts had Departed by the Time we Made our Move Cruising up the East Coast of the Island we Pass the Busy Town of Khios The Windmills on the Foreshore Mark the Narrow Entrance to the Khios Marina The Khios Marina is Just North of Khios Town and Unfortunately is in a very Neglected State, as is Common in Greece Lone Australian Sailor, Steven Helps us with our Lines on Arrival in the Marina Following Walking to the Local Service Station to Organise Fuel for the Boat, Ric is Later Collected to Pay Before Delivery We Prefer to Fill up the Tanks in Greece as Diesel is a lot Cheaper here than in Turkey Some of the Local Boats have Taken Over Part of the Run Down Marina After Enjoying Steven’s Company for a few Hours in the Marina While we Waited for the Fuel, we then said our Farwells and Continued on our Way North There is a Shallow Shoal and Reef Between the Windmills and the Entrance to the Marina and we Needed to take Caution on Entering and Departing Continuing North we Pass a Few Small Towns Khios Island is Quite Mountainous with a Rocky Ridge that Runs the Length of the Island Passing Mandraki Town on Oinoussa Island, North West of Khios, we Looked for a Quiet Bay to Swim and Moor for the Night Mandraki Appears to be a Delightful Town which we Thought we Would Visit The Town Appears to be Quite Small and Quaint Great Scenery Travelling East to Pasas Island Barren Slopes with Only a Church and a Cross on the Hill on this Almost Deserted Island The Bay in which we Choose to Drop the Anchor has a Beach and the Church on the Hill In the Distance the Only Vessel in the Area is a Freighter Passing By The Church on the Hill in the Fading Sun Sunset Over Nearby Islands Dinner Aboard Tonight is Steak and Vegetables – Delicious A Full Moon Rises Above the Church on the Hill Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
