2019-09-18 ACI Marina Trogir to Vela Stupica, Zirje Island, Croatia The boys have been doing some extra shopping this morning At lunchtime we depart Trogir for the start of our trip with our Tasmanian friends aboard Leaving ACI Marina Trogir Leaving the historic old town of Trogir We head north west up the barren coastline While we travel we take the opportunity to have a leisurely lunch aboard A couple of hours later we approach the picturesque town of Primosten In the past Primosten was situated on an islet and was protected by walls and towers and a draw bridge A causeway was later built in 1564 to connect the town to the mainland The town was built on a hill which is dominated by the Parish Church of St George which was built in 1485 and later restored in 1760 Primosten is also famous for its huge and beautiful vineyards. There is also a lovely small beach which was voted one of the 10 most beautiful in Croatia After leaving Primosten we motor north west for just over an hour to Zirje Island where we anchor in an almost secluded bay to have a swim Apart from the other boat, we were the only visitors to the bay After an hour enjoying the refreshing water we make our way to a nearby cove called Uvala Stupica Vela where there is a popular restaurant that caters to visiting sailors We join many other boats and pick up a restaurant mooring in the bay Fortunately the restaurant had a table available!! At 7 pm we make our way ashore The restaurant must be very busy tonight!! Konoba Stupica Not a spare table to be seen After waiting for a few minutes we secured our table We all enjoyed a selection of grilled squid, octopus and whole seabass fish with a potato and a green salad. All were delicious!! The young lady that looked after us spoke good English and was very pleasant and helpful Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
