2019-08-22 Anchoring off Grand Hotel Tristone to Marina D’Arechi, Salerno, Italy Early morning light over Positano Time for our morning swim The Grand Hotel Tritone precariously perched high on top of the massive cliffs above the sea Ballet on the water!!! We say goodbye to our wonderful picturesque overnight anchorage Looking back to Positano with an armada of super yachts moored nearby We return motoring in a north easterly direction along the Amalfi Coast towards the larger port of Salerno Capo di Conca Once again we pass the lovely town of Amalfi Continuing along the coast the large town of Salerno comes into view Once around the cape we pass the small hamlet of Erchie which has an ancient torre, La Torre Cerniola standing on the northeastern point The popular beach attracts many visitors to the tiny town in the summer months Wind surfing along this coast is certainly a great pastime for the young and fit !! Cetara, only 6 km from Salerno is known as a fiercely traditional fishing village and the world’s tuna capital. It also has a reputation as a gastronomic hotspot Another attractive hillside village is Raito In the western end of Salerno is Rione Porto, the main port of the city Entering Rione Porto High above the port stands the ancient Castello di Arechi We had made a forward booking for a berth in a marina in Salerno however after radioing in we found that the marina we had chosen was actually east of Rione Porto Turning around we head back out of the large port Salerno is an ancient city founded in 197 BC and is the capital of the region of Campania Motoring east we near our destination Approaching the modern Marina D’Arechi where we had made our booking for a berth Looking back to the entrance of the marina and to the large city of Salerno Tangaroa safely moored in Marina D’Arechi Tonight we dine aboard and have prepared a Pesce al forno with tomatoes, basil and potatoes Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
