After checking out of Hotel Da Baixa late morning, we made our way to the train station where we had booked a couple of seats on a train to Porto We board the train for the 312 km journey north to Porto which will take approximately 3 hoursAfter departing Lisbon we head in a north easterly direction firstly following the Tagus RiverPleasant country scenery on the wayAfter a comfortable 3 hour journey we approach PortoArriving at our station CampanhaWe had booked accommodation online close to the city. The owner gave us good directions and kindly met us at the apartment to hand over the key when we arrivedOur wonderful comfortable accommodation for the next few days Comfortable clean bedVery pleasant spotless bathroomA lovely small, safe and private back gardenThe young lady that owns the apartment has created quite unique accommodation very close to the centre of PortoAfter settling into the apartment we head off down the road to explore the cityOnly minutes away we arrive at the Town HallThe taxi strike in Portugal is still continuing still without any sign of reliefThis evening there are many taxi drivers protesting in the large square by the Town HallLike Lisbon, the architecture of Porto is magnificentEstatua Equestrede Dom Redo 1VTaxis as far as the eye can see!!Sao Bento Railway Station with it’s amazing panelsWe see the Porto CathedralThe streets are busy with locals and many touristsYoung students from country schools are in Porto singing to the crowdsWe arrive at the Douro River which runs through the town of Porto which is close to the Atlantic OceanWith the sun perfectly positioned for great early evening shots, we visit the Porto Cathedral which overlooks the townWe stop at a popular bar in Porto called BaixaDinner tonight is at Nogueiras
We order some fabulous eye fillet steaks with wonderful roasted vegetables and french fries
