2017-09-30 Marina Sant Carles de la Rapita to Hotel NXY, Perpignan, France

Once again we depart Sant Carles de la Rapita by bus for a 2 hour trip to Barcelona airport

Rather than flying out, at the airport we hired a car

As we had packed up the Tangaroa several days early we decided to drive north without any major plans to where we would stay

With light rain falling we thought we would continue driving until it cleared

We drove 38 kms across the northern border of Spain into France arriving at the ancient Catalan capital of Perpignan

Being so close to Spain, Perpignan is the most Spanish looking French city in southern France

Using Bookings.com we quickly secured a room for the night at a small boutique hotel

Hotel NYX was convenient, clean and reasonably priced however the rooms were very small……..typically French

As we have had a long day of travelling and it was almost 9.45 pm (regular time for dinner for the Spanish) we decided to try a local Asian restaurant called L’Indochine

With dinner we try a nice French red

We start with a nice and spicy seafood soup

………followed by another tasty seafood dish

…..and of course it comes with rice

The waiter talked Ric into ordering a deep fried flambeed banana for dessert…..icecream was also ordered!!

We enjoyed the company of the two local couples at the next table

After dinner we took a leisurely stroll back to the hotel

We pass many busy bars full of young people

We recognise this odd embracing piece of artwork which stands opposite the street in which our hotel was situated
