The bikes are getting a good workout again today!!Where ever you look, the architecture of Barcelona is certainly outstandingIt is hard not to pass a Gaudi building during our sightseeing excursions everyday
Again we come to Gaudi’s beautiful Casa Mila or ‘La Pedrera’ as it is also knownToday we decide to stop and have a coffee in the small restaurant called “Cafe de la Pedrera” on the ground floorThe Birthday Boy !!Continuing on we pass plenty more interesting buildings
Looking toward Casa Arnus which is at the foot of Tibidabo, the highest peak of the Serra de Collserola MountainsWe secure our bikes and board the funicular to take us up to Tibidabo
We arrive at the top at the funicular station and find the views over Barcelona from here were the most spectacular we had so far seen of the cityThe magnificent Church of the Sacret Heart of Jesus is perched on top of Mount TibidaboThe stunning interior of the church is certainly worth visitingThe Tibidado Funfair, a leisure facility at the foot of the church is a popular attraction for young and oldWe decide to go up higher to the next level of the churchWe were then able to continue to the highest visitor point of the churchWe certainly were a long way up!!It was quite amazing being so close to the statue of Christ on top the the churchThe views from up here were even more spectacular looking over Barcelona
The Tibidabo Funfair park looks dwarfed below the church. We were not that interested in taking one of the rides below for obvious reasons!!!!The ‘Birthday Boy’ looks like he is having a happy day!!Time to return back to the funicular and hopefully our bikesAs we ride back down we pass a very elegant part of Barcelona with beautiful mansions on either side of the roadNext we ride through La RamblaAgain we pass the still figures!!
Back past the ‘Face of Barcelona’……….and to the Tangaroa to relax and freshen up before Ric’s birthday dinner this eveningAfter following a maze of alleyways we arrive at Tast-Ller [15 Loft] the restaurant which we booked for tonight’s special dinner, with the owner and chef Mickel greeting us at the doorOnce inside the Mikel shows us to a delightful table on the mezzanine floorA selection of wonderful breads arrive with oils in interesting dispensers and a selection of delicious buttersWhen we made the booking for the restaurant, we were told there was a set 7 course degustation menu. We were very pleased to hear this at the time and were very much looking forward to enjoying the dining experience
