Tangaroa in Port VellThe old 1880’s warehouses by the marina have been recently converted into the Palau de Mar, a building now housing offices, restaurants and the History Museum of CataloniaWe head off on our bikes for a brief tour around the marina and nearby areaAnother rather large super yacht is moored along Moll d’Espanya in the portWe ride past the Tapas restaurants on the waters edge by Maremagnum, the large marina shopping complexWe head around Maremagnum to the Rambla de Mar, the walkway across the water to the city centreLooking across the large Port Vell MarinaThe port is a popular destination for visitors and localsThe French style Edifici Port de Barcelona building which houses the Port Works Board is just beyond the walkwayThe entrance of the Edifici Port de Barcelona buildingRic in front of the statue of Romul Bosch Alsin who was a very successful physician, polititian and businessman in BarcelonaNearby is the Mirador de Colon with the statue of Christopher Colombus high up overlooking the waterGobierno Militar de Barcelona, the military headquarters of BarcelonaCaptaincy General Army BuildingThe Moll de la Fusta dock area has wonderful open spaces with interesting sculptures and even plenty of bikes lined up to hire!!As we ride along Moll de la Fusta we pass an interesting walking bridge over the adjacent road‘La Gamba’, the giant prawn in the Moll de la Fusta DockThe Face of BarcelonaAntiga Estació de Metro de CorreusWe ride down the bike track on Passeig d’Isabel and pass the Font del Geni CatalaWe arrive at the entrance to Parc de la Ciutadella, which we thought we might quickly visit before returning to the portAmazing bubbles near the Arc de TriomfWe then ride to the Placa de Catalunya which is a wonderful open space, north of the port, surrounded by business houses and has plenty of pigeons to feed!!Adjacent to the square are a couple of attractive circular fountains surrounded by manicured flowerbeds
At another end of the square stands the monument to Francesc Macia, a very popular former president of the Catalan Government
From Placa de Catalunya heading south we follow the well know La Rambla, a very long tree lined promenade that links the square to the portTowards the port end of La Rambla street performers, portrait artistis, flower and food vendors, craft stalls etc can be foundCurious onlookers stare at the painted live figures who make the odd movement when prompted by a coin or two in the tip chalice!!We arrive back at the Mirador de Colon at the port after our brief excursion

Back to the TangaroaTonight we try the OneOcean Club Restaurant for dinner and join another couple whom we met at the marina earlier in the day
Fish on the menu for us all this eveningI order my favourite Pesce al Forno, fish cooked in the ovenLa Grande dessert for 4……delicious
We finish the evening with a brandy on the rooftop bar and enjoy the wonderful view over the port
