2016-09-03 Cala de Sa Tuna to Cala Fosca via Cala Castell, Costa Brava, Spain Again it is a very warm day and the tiny beach in the south western cove of Sa Tuna has very little room left for many more sun worshipers! We decide we would keep on the move and find another nice anchorage to moor overnight We head south down the coast and enter the large busy bay of Aiguablava by the town of Fornells The coves and beaches in the bay are certainly popular at the moment The entrance to the Club Nautic Aiguabrava Yacht Club As we continue we pass many amazing houses built into the high cliffs along the spectacular coast The wonderful rugged coastline around Carla Llarga in the Tamariu area is a very popular daytime anchorage in good weather with the locals and holidaymakers We pass many diving boats returning from their diving excursions The beach by the holiday town of Tamariu seems to be as busy as all the others we have passed on our journey down the coast Interesting rock formations nearby The Sant Sebastià Lighthouse stands 175 metres above sea level on a cliff set between the beaches of Tamariu and Llafranc An interesting way of getting exercise while fishing! We approach the seaside town of Llafranc The picturesque town situated in the heart of the Costa Brava boasts unbelievable prices for properties overlooking the sea in the area Day tripper boats are very popular for tourists all along the coast Nearby is the tourist resort of Calella de Palafrugell This is another beautiful area of the Costa Brava Further south just off the coast by popular diving area of Cala Estreta are the Illes Formigues We finally decide join a number of other boats and drop our anchor in Cala de Castell a popular anchorage north of the town of Palamos Nearby we see old ruins perched on a hill overlooking the bay We pass the remains of an old castle called Castell de Sant Esteve as we move to a nearby anchorage that would be more suitable for our overnight stay Cala de Fosca, where we drop anchor again is another popular beach resort It was quite a sight watching this group paddling around the bay at dusk A boat load of young ladies arrive with a captain to enjoy a swim and cocktails before moving on!! All the boats in the bay leave which gives us the opportunity to tuck ourselves closer in the corner of the bay in case the wind that was forecast may be a little heavier Another pleasant anchorage Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
