2016-09-02 Cala de Montgo to Carla de Sa Tuna via Carla de Sa Riera, Costa Brava, Spain Early morning light over Cala Montgo The sandy cove of Cala Montgo which is sheltered from the north, has one of the most popular beaches of the Costa Brava Montgo situated between the towns of L’Escala and Torroella de Montgrí is well positioned for holidaymakers with many lovely beaches and the mountains nearby We depart this lovely bay this morning to continue our journey along the coast We pass by Cap del Castell where small boats can go through a natural archway in the headland Continuing southeast down the coast we approach the Illes Medes off the coast of the town of L’Estartit Approaching the seaside resort of L’Estartit at the foothills of Montgrí Massif Time to fuel up the Tangaroa with the cheaper prices in Spain Once fueled up we circumnavigate the Illes Medes archipelago The group of uninhabited islands just a short distance off the Catalonian coast by LEstartit now have National Park status Heading south from L’Estartit is a continual sandy beach framed by many holiday complexes on the Balearic Sea and Inland are flat alluvial plains and a couple of medieval villages Playa Illa Roja a very popular secluded beach near the town of Begur Nearby perched on high cliffs are exclusive homes overlooking the stunning beaches and the sea Lovely homes on Punta de en Torci by Platja Sa Riera After dropping the anchor and a swim we continue further along the coast We decide to go into the sheltered bay of Sa Tuna At the entrance to the lovely bay is a large conspicuous hotel complex A few boats are comfortably moored in Sa Tuna Music and dancing aboard these two party boats in the bay A small popular beach tucked into the southern cove of Sa Tuna The northern cove of the bay boasts another small beach with dozens of empty moorings!!
