2016-09-01 Cala Guillola to Cala de Montgo, Costa Brava, Spain
This morning we pull up our anchor and leave the beautiful bay, Cala GuillolaJust south of Cala Guillola is Port LligatJust east of the larger town of Cadaques, Port Lligat is a popular seaside villageSafe anchorage for local boats can be found here on moorings in the areaContinuing back towards Cadaques, we pass several fishing boats at workOnce again we pass the lovely town of Cadaques where we spent a few days during the weekLooking back to Roses, another anchorage we has earlier in the week, as we head south west across the Gulf de RosesWe couldn’t miss the ancient harbour and Grecco-Roman ruins of EmpuriesIglésia de Sant Martí d’Empúries, the old 16th century church built over the site where an ancient church stood Ancient remains of the old Greek port can be clearly seen in the bay which was firstly used by traders as far back as the 6th Century BCThe remains of the archaeological site of Empuries are those of both a Greek trading port and the remains of a Roman military campAs we continue south we pass the nearby town of L’Escala
Continuing down the picturesque coast
A short distance further we enter the sheltered bay of Cala de Montgo
Several boats, including another Menorquin are on anchor in the pretty bayCala de Montgo, an extremely pleasant anchorage both for day and also overnight
