2016-09-01 Cala Guillola to Cala de Montgo, Costa Brava, Spain This morning we pull up our anchor and leave the beautiful bay, Cala Guillola Just south of Cala Guillola is Port Lligat Just east of the larger town of Cadaques, Port Lligat is a popular seaside village Safe anchorage for local boats can be found here on moorings in the area Continuing back towards Cadaques, we pass several fishing boats at work Once again we pass the lovely town of Cadaques where we spent a few days during the week Looking back to Roses, another anchorage we has earlier in the week, as we head south west across the Gulf de Roses We couldn’t miss the ancient harbour and Grecco-Roman ruins of Empuries Iglésia de Sant Martí d’Empúries, the old 16th century church built over the site where an ancient church stood Ancient remains of the old Greek port can be clearly seen in the bay which was firstly used by traders as far back as the 6th Century BC The remains of the archaeological site of Empuries are those of both a Greek trading port and the remains of a Roman military camp As we continue south we pass the nearby town of L’Escala Continuing down the picturesque coast A short distance further we enter the sheltered bay of Cala de Montgo Several boats, including another Menorquin are on anchor in the pretty bay Cala de Montgo, an extremely pleasant anchorage both for day and also overnight Some rather large jellyfish appear to check out the new boats in the harbour!!
