2016-08-25 Port de Sete, Languedoc-Roussillon, France Tangaroa in the commercial port in Sete This morning we get the bikes out to explore the town The Canal de Sete Near the entrance to the covered market is in the centre of the town Wonderful fresh fruit and vegetables are for sale in the Sete market A good variety of fresh fish and seafood are available too Fabulous French oysters can be found in most seaside markets An octopus fountain features in the main square of the town The Saint Louis Church overlooking the town and the sea was built in the 17th century The copper statue of the Virgin Mary was added in 1869 which dramatically increased the height of the church which can be seen clearly from the port Cycling higher up above the port we get a wonderful view over the marina Once back down in the town we cycle along the canal Numerous seafood restaurants line the shores of the canal Riding along the bike track by the canal is a great way of seeing the town of Sete The Saint Louis Church above the port One of the main streets of the town Local small craft can be found lining the shores of the waterways of Sete Our next stop on our venture around the town is visit the tiny old fishing harbour The small harbour is flanked by small stilt fisherman’s cottages Piles of nets lie all around the shore and are draped over fences in the tiny harbour Back to the canals and to the Tangaroa in the port In the evening we arrive at La Coquerie, an amazing small restaurant situated beside the old cemetery overlooking the harbour Wonderful views at sunset over the Sete harbour The girls in the kitchen who help with the serving of the amazing food produced by the owner and chef Anne Majourel, one of the few female French Michelin chefs We were so fortunate to get a table as La Coquerie tonight as normally one has to booked a couple of months in advance to secure one of the few tables of the restaurant There is a set menu of several courses of the freshest produce available on the day An amazing dinner presented by an amazing chef, Anne Majourel Fabian with the local Tuk Tuk dropped us off and picked us up from La Coquerie Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
