This morning we get the bikes out to explore the townThe Canal de SeteNear the entrance to the covered market is in the centre of the townWonderful fresh fruit and vegetables are for sale in the Sete market
A good variety of fresh fish and seafood are available tooFabulous French oysters can be found in most seaside marketsAn octopus fountain features in the main square of the townThe Saint Louis Church overlooking the town and the sea was built in the 17th centuryThe copper statue of the Virgin Mary was added in 1869 which dramatically increased the height of the church which can be seen clearly from the portCycling higher up above the port we get a wonderful view over the marina
Once back down in the town we cycle along the canalNumerous seafood restaurants line the shores of the canal
Riding along the bike track by the canal is a great way of seeing the town of Sete

Our next stop on our venture around the town is visit the tiny old fishing harbourThe small harbour is flanked by small stilt fisherman’s cottagesPiles of nets lie all around the shore and are draped over fences in the tiny harbour
Back to the canals and to the Tangaroa in the portIn the evening we arrive at La Coquerie, an amazing small restaurant situated beside the old cemetery overlooking the harbourWonderful views at sunset over the Sete harbourThe girls in the kitchen who help with the serving of the amazing food produced by the owner and chef Anne Majourel, one of the few female French Michelin chefsWe were so fortunate to get a table as La Coquerie tonight as normally one has to booked a couple of months in advance to secure one of the few tables of the restaurantThere is a set menu of several courses of the freshest produce available on the day
