2016-08-23 Vieux Port, Marseille to Anse des Laurons,Provence, France
Our lovely live aboard neighbour, Dani bids us farewellWe carefully make our way out through the narrows space between the piersThe busy pier where we were berthed for the past few daysLooking back as we make our departure from Vieux Port MarseilleFort Jean is on our starboard side as we leave the harbourOn our port side, high up on the hill is the Notre Dame de la GardeFort Jean beside the spectacular modern building which houses the MuCemThe Palais du Pharo overlooks the entrance to the harbourLa Major Cathedrale has sections that date back to the 11th centuryOnce out of the port we head west across Rade de MarseilleContinuing west along the Chaine de L’Estague or better known as La Cote Blue, a limestone hilly coastlineA number of small towns are dotted along this coastWe pass the lighthouse on Cap Couronne near Port de CaroThere doesn’t seem to be much room left on the beach here today!!It appears that large chunks of rock have been harvested from the coast hereNear the town of Caro there seems to be a popular designated area for people with motor homes travelling along the coastThe four chimneys of the Les Laurons power station can be seen from a number of miles awayAs there were not many anchorages along this part of the coast we decide to anchor nearby in a small bay south east of the power station called Anse des LauronsBy late afternoon we were the only remaining boat in the bayThe locals look like they enjoy fishing from the rocks until quite late hereSpectacular sunset over Anse des Laurons
