2016-08-22 Vieux Port, Marseille, Provence, France This morning the wind had abated and the conditions and the water were calm once again We decide to stay another night and spend the day catching up on some other boat maintenance Ed and his partner, Chris drop by the Tangaroa to make sure the mechanic that works for Ed had completed the job to our satisfaction In the evening we hail a taxi by the port to take us to a restaurant we had booked We conveniently arrive at Vallon des Auffes at sunset The approaching sunset at the memorial looked amazing Managing to get a booking at the popular restaurant called Fon Fon, we arrive in Vallon des Auffes We also arrive in time to capture the last rays of sunshine in the tiny port The pretty village is buzzing with plenty of people this evening We were lucky to get a table when we booked as Fon Fon is more than often booked out Fon Fon has a lovely view over the tiny quaint fishing village As it was our last night in Marseille, we had to try the bouillabaisse which is a famous traditional fish soup of this area To begin our waiter brings us an Olive tapanade and some rouille The rich bouillabaisse broth and cooked fish arrive Firstly slices of toasted bread laden with rouille is added to the soup and then the fish is either added to the broth or just eaten seperately Several different kinds of fish and pototo accompany the bouillabaisse broth A very pleasant red to accompany our delicious but filling main course A wonderful light and refreshing dessert featuring mango to share between the two of us A very friendly Italian couple, Alessandro and Francoise who were sitting beside us in the restaurant Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
