2016-08-11 Port du Crouton, Cap d’Antibes to Iles de Lerins, Cannes, France Our very pleasant overnight mooring off the tiny Port du Crouton Looking across the bay with many super yachts on anchor overnight too!! Surprisingly a mussel farm operates from the centre of Golfe Juan! Galice Juan les Pins, a very popular and fashionable marina lies in the north east of Golfe Juan Being in southern France in August is when you see numerous big boats come out with their owners and guests There is no shortage of apartments and hotels along the coast here in France We head across the bay in a south westerly direction to one of the islands of Iles de Lerins called Ile Ste Marguerite On the north side of Ile Ste Marguerite is Fort Royal which was built in the 17th Century and it is believed that the prisoner known as the Man in the Iron Mask was housed here After spending an hour on anchor rocking and rolling due to boats coming and going, we decided to try another anchorage on the other side of the island Between Ile Ste Marguerite and Ile St Honorat in the south there appeared to be a popular and more sheltered anchorage Looking back to Cannes in the distance as we approach Ile St Honorat As we arrived we were quite amazed seeing the hundreds of boats on anchor here today As it was very pleasant and certainly much calmer here, we joined the huge armada and dropped our anchor too!! With the long lens we look back to the larger vessels moored nearby off Cannes Pizza delivery was popular in the bay No pizza for us tonight!! Ric has cooked us a delicious fillet steak on the barbecue for our dinner Such a lovely outlook !! …..and a nice sunset too Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
