2016-08-10 Beaulieu-sur-mer to Port du Crouton, Cap d’Antibes, France
The marina in Beaulieu-sur-mer is a home to many smart boats of all sizesIn the evening this is a very busy area of the marina with wall to wall chic restaurantsThe marina is sheltered by the tall cliffs of the surrounding mountain ridgeWith the bikes we cycle into the small town of Beaulieu-sur-merThe French are famous for their wonderful cakes and tarts!!Most towns in France have fresh produce markets where one can buy wonderfully fresh vegetables, fruit and flowers etcBeaulieu-sur-mer is quite an elegant town with perfectly manicured gardens and clean and well maintained streetsThe luxurious houses built high up on the surrounding ridge overlooking the bay, are all believed to be privately owned…as are the elegant homes surrounding the bayWe make our departure to continue west along the coastThe fuel was more expensive in Italy so we have waited to fill up in France. We were given a good price from this fuel berth at the marina in Beaulieu-sur-mer
We leave the busy bay of Beaulieu-sur-merAs we motor west we pass Cap Ferrat once again, with it’s conspicuous tall lighthouse and elegant 5 star hotel In the distance is the Baie des Anges and the town of NiceContinuing south west across Baie des Anges we pass the old town of AntibesThe coastal trail, a popular walk along the water’s edge, continues for several kms around the coast on Cap d’AntibesStunning villas which can only be seen from the water, are dotted in low lying wooded areas along the coastOn the southern tip of the Cap d’Antibes is the lighthouse on Pte del’iletteHotel du Cap Eden Roc, an exclusive hotel also in the south of the Cap d’AntibesThe small gulf, Golfe Juan is situated on the western side of Cap d’AntibesWe drop our anchor for the night just off Port du Crouton, on the eastern side of Golfe Juan. The small and quite shallow old fishing harbour is now used for local small boatsWe admired the attractive villa on the shore by our mooringBy late afternoon Golfe Juan filled up with quite a few boats on anchorGood sunset looking towards the islands nearby off CannesRic busy cooking one of his great curries outside again!!Fabulous fireworks coming from the east near CannesThe amazing fireworks display lasted for over 30 minutes and when it finished all the boats in the bay hooted in approval, including us!!
