At the Centre du Patrimone we found a fabulous marketThe fruit and vegetables looked amazingWe take a walk through the narrow lanes of the old part of the townThe interesting poled figures in Place MassenaNearby is the Fountaine du Soleil with the statue of Apollo. It has had a very interesting history where the statue was removed for a number of years, as it was believed it may offend some women (or was it the men!)At the fountain we locked our bikes and took the small tourist train on a circuit tour which lasted about 45 minutesThe train trip took us around the town and up to Castle HillGood views over the famous pebbly beach which stretches for many kms along the foreshore of Nice. It has been very crowded during the hot weather experienced here in recent weeksAlthough there was very little left of the castle on Castle Hill, the view over Nice and the Baie des Anges was quite spectacular through the overgrown treesOnce back at the fountain after the train trip and after having a good look at Apollo (we did not know what all the fuss was about) we collected our bikes and headed back towards the portLooking back to Promenade des Anglais from Quai Rauba Capeu which is a continuation of the famous road heading east towards the portIt is quite an amazing feat how the War Memorial of Nice was carved into the rock in the hillsideWe arrive back in the port after a busy day of seeing some of the sights of Nice
