Goodbye to the wonderful marina staffAfter departing the marina we look back towards the convent on the hill behind LoanoThe Cathedral in the main piazza of LoanoYoung sailors are out with their instructors as we leave the townContinuing along the coast we pass the private island of Isolotto Gallinara situated just off the coast before the town of AlassioCapo San Croce with a hillside of very elegant villas facing the south Not long after we approach the picturesque medieval town of Cervo just past Marina di AndoraOne of Cervo’s main attractions is the fine baroque church of St. John the Baptist perched high up in the town overlooking the waterBeach side towns along this coast of the Italian Riviera are very popular especially in summertimeThe combining of the two towns of Porto Maurizio and Oneglia in 1923 created the community of Imperia Ponente which is proud of it’s very successful olive oil productionWe drop our anchor and stop for a while in a bay very close to our destination of San RemoOn the slopes for several kms north east of the large town of San Remo are numerous hot houses in which flowers are grown for the well known flower market of the areaOnce we had relaxed and had a swim we continued the short distance to the Portosole Marina in San Remo, where we had booked a berth for the nightAs per normal in a lot of larger marinas, the marina staff come out to greet you on arrival and lead and assist you to and at your allocated berthThe Portosole Marina is quite large and has over 800 berths for vessels of all sizesOnce securely tied up in the berth we cleaned and polished the Tangaroa both on the outside and also inside!!Ric decides to cook us a delicious pizza in the barbecue for dinner tonightSunset over the marinaLater in the evening we went for a brisk walk around the San Remo foreshoreThe fortress of Santa Tecla looked wonderful lit up in the evening
