2016-07-30 Porto Antico Marina, Genoa to Marina di Loano, Loano, Italy Our French marina neighbours depart early this morning After several days in the Porto Antico Marina we also prepare to make our departure We leave the busy port of Genoa and continue south west along the Italian coast After an hour of motoring along the coast we pass the town of Arenzano The harbour is sheltered by Capo Arenzano As we continue down the coast we pass the town of Varazze, with it’s long beach almost totally covered with multi coloured sun lounges and umbrellas Varazze Marina We motor past the port of Savona, the 5th largest port in Italy which mainly handles coal and oil The town of Savona, which has many very old buildings, is reasonably sophisticated with good shopping, restaurants and is a popular beach resort In the distance near Vado we can see Isola Bergeggi which apparently is covered with olive trees and is now a marine protected area which encompasses part of the coast too Just south of the island is the medieval town of Noli The old town of Noli also has a very popular beach in the summer months We approach the beautiful seaside town of Finale Ligure The bluff of Varigotti by Finale Ligure with it’s tower and tiny beach Finale Ligure with it’s attractive pastel coloured buildings and long beach We tried to get a berth in the Finale Ligure port however nothing was available today We continue along the coast towards Loano passing numerous forts and castles on the way A popular stop for motor homes travelling along the coast We finally arrive in the town of Loano Approaching Marina di Loano We rang ahead and secured a berth for the night in the large modern marina Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
