Morning on the moorings in CapraiaCalm conditions overnight for the yachts who chose to anchor outLa Garitta with the elevated extended seating behind the restaurantThe entrance to Porto Capraia, the only town on the islandThe ferry pier in Porto CapraiaWe make a move to check out some of the other bays on the islandPunta di Porto VecchioJust north of Capraia is another anchorage called Porto Vecchio which is an alternative to anchoring by the town. Further north is also a good anchorage called Cala della Mortola, however we did not visit it – next time!!We head south again past Porto CapraiaWe pass the old town on the hill with the brightly coloured houses
A number of yachts are also heading southToretta Del Bagno the large fort by Porto CapraiaAnother popular anchorage in calm weather on the east coast of Capraia is Cala del CeppoTorre dello Zenobito stands prominently on the southern tip of the small island

We continue around the Punta dello Zenobito to Carla del Moreto, another stunning anchorageWe return to the spectacular Cala RossaWe drop anchor in this stunning bay to join the other visitors here and have a swimThe amazing contrasts of the rock colours here in this bay make it quite extraordinaryAlthough short, our visit to Capraia was well worth the detourThe conditions were perfect today to travel back to mainland ItalyWe decide to return to the Italian coast very close to where we left from last year to go to ElbaWe approach the town of Baretti which is just north of Piombino where most of the ferries leave from to go to the Tuscan islandsWe anchor off the beach and take the opportunity to have a swim in the clear waterThere are a lot of people on the beach enjoying the very warm conditions we have been experiencing the past weeks
By 8 pm most of the beachgoers have left
