This morning before dropping Michele at the airport early afternoon we thought we would visit another small hilltop village on the wayPassing the tiny town of RutaliWe finally arrive at Murato, a tiny village in the hills west of the Bastia airportMurato even has a tiny little butcher shop too!The old convent next to the church has now been turned into what looks like a rustic French restaurantThe Church di Annunziata in Murato dates back to the mid to late 1600’s
Not far from Murato on a neighbouring hill stands an eye catching old Pisan Romanesque churchSan Michele di Murato was classified as a Historical Monument back in 1840. The church was built around 1140 and it is believed it was built overnight by angels!!Looking back to the town of Murato
What a wonderful position for Restaurant “Pagliachju San Michele”It was time to get Michele to the airport for her flight back to ParisAfter 12 days aboard the Tangaroa with us it was finally time to say goodbye!!Ric and I head back to Bastia after doing a big supermarket shop at Geant, one of the superstores just out of townAfter returning to the Tangaroa with our supplies we then dropped off the hire car and set off for a walk around town
The view looking over View Port from the walkway on top of the seawall beside where we have the Tangaroa berthedLooking north towards the new commercial port
Gilles Nouaille, our neighbour from one side in the port, kindly gave us a couple of bottles of wine to try from his winery in Capandu in FranceWe had a lovely evening chatting to our other neighbours, newly married Gensen and Gisela from Germany
