This morning the weather is calm once againThe day tripper boats will be finally going out now the mistral wind has abatedHeading out of the marina, the old walled town in front of us looks spectacular
Continuing north east up the west coast we approach Ile Rousse, a very popular port for tourists and sailors alikeWe continue north east up the coast and find one of the beautiful white sandy beaches to stop for a few hoursAs soon as we stop we all head in for a long awaited swimThe colour of the water is the most exquisite turquoise all along this beautiful coastHeading towards St Florent we approach Baie de la MortellaThe round Genoese Martello tower which was built so strongly that the design was actually copied for towers to be built elsewhere, was eventually curcummed to ruinsOnce we had another swim in Baie de la Mortella we made our way to the nearby town of St FlorentOnce anchored in the bay beside the town we take the dinghy ashoreThis is our 2nd visit to this pretty little town in northern CorsicaRic waits patiently while Michele and have some retail therapyBoules is a popular pastime for the local gents in the townOnce again I purchased some hand made jewelry by Yves Alessandroni of Acqua Dolce BijouxThe Citadel of St Florent was built in 1439 and today is used for art exhibitions and the surrounding area for cultural encounters and music festivalsLovely views of the old part of the town from the Citadel area
The town square with fountain et alAfter our stroll around the lovely town we decide to head back to the TangaroaThe light this evening over the moored yachts in the port is quite amazingOn such a beautiful still evening it is wonderful to be aboard
Looking back at the delightful little port of St FlorentSunsetAfter a few relaxing drinks, the pizza chefs were having a bit of fun trying to make the dough fit the pizza trays!! Note the bottle of wine was used as a rolling pin!!Michele shows us her pizza decoration skills before the pizzas enter the oven!!Cheers!! The pizzas were fabulous!! How nice to sit outside on yet another balmy evening for dinner.
