The wind is already blowing strongly and several yachts have taken moorings in the bay by the townThe mistrale wind is expected to strengthen today so we plan enter the Calvi marina for a night or two if we can secure a berthThere are plenty of large super yachts sheltering in the port todayLast year we spent a night in this wonderful port in late SeptemberFortunately once again we were able to secure a berth after we mentioned we were from Australia!!Michele and I set off for a walk around the old town once we get the boat secured and tidied upIn any port there are always a long row of small local fishing boats!!The Citadel which dominates the small town was built in 1268 by the PisansIt is believed the site was occupied and fortified long before the 13th CenturyA wonderful view over the port and marina of Calvi. It is believed the Phoenicians started using this anchorage by Calvi as early as 500 BCOverlooking the lovely town of Calvi with such a long historyOverlooking the boats on the moorings off the beach by CalviTangaroa securely tied up in the portHigh up in the citadel is the Cathedrale St Jean Baptiste

We order some anchovies as starters…… and a beautifully presented mushroom salad……and the quail saladMichele chose the rack of lamb as a main course, which she thoroughly enjoyedRic enjoys the perfectly cooked and tender duck breastMy choice is the fish which was a little underdone however still fineMy nicely presented vegetables on the sideMichelle loved her beautifully presented lemon tartLa Grande Dessert!! A wonderful way to sample a few of the incredible choices!!The chocolate dessert was absolutely amazing!!
