2016-06-13 Marina Cannigione, Sardinia As we were not leaving port today, we decide to have a day of sightseeing Another day of the very strong mistral wind!! After hiring a car we set off to visit some of the ancient sites in the close proximity to Cannigione Close to the small town of Arzachena there are numerous Nuraghe sites The first site we visit is the Albucciu Nuraghe south east of Arzachena Less than 100 m away we visit the Giant’s Tomb Moru Ric patiently waiting, so we can continue on to the next site Around the sites there are fields of wildflowers and old olive trees Our next stop is the Tomba di Giganti Li Lolghi The ancient burial site dates back to around 1800 BC The most important site of the area is the Li Muri Necropolis which is the oldest and dates back to approximately to 3500 BC At the information and ticket sale hut for one of the sites, we find a very contented visitor in a box having an afternoon nap Another ancient site we visit is the Tomba di Giganti Coddu Ecchju The ancient site, which is bordered by a large vineyard can clearly be seen from a distance Finally we visit the Nuraghe La Prisgiona which was quite close to the Coddu Ecchju We then continue south to the town of Olbia An unusual cloud appears in the sky We stop by the port in Olbia and a very large super motor yacht almost fills one side of the quay After we parked the car, it was time to briefly explore the town centre before returning to Cannigione Parrocchia Di S. Paolo Apostolo Church Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published. Required fields are marked *Comment * Name * Email * Website Δ
