2016-06-08 Porto Palma, Isola Caprera to Porto La Maddalena, La Maddalena Islands, Sardinia Breakfast in Porto Palma The sailing school begin their training for the day as we depart to go to another bay in south east of Isola Caprera As we arrive in Cala Portese, there was a beautifully restored Ketch anchored called Altair, which after some investigation was found to be 40m long and was built in 1931 Another fine looking vessel is also moored in Cala Portese A few more boats arrive in the bay, including this sleek 45m racing yacht called Salperton, which is obviously here for the upcoming super yacht regatta out of Porto Cervo People are starting to arrive at the sandy white beach with the unmistakable bar conveniently positioned in the centre!! After spending the afternoon swimming and relaxing in the lovely bay we made the unanomous decision to book and go into La Maddalena port for the night As the distances around La Maddalena Islands are not great, it took us less than half an hour to arrive at the port Once at the entrance to the municipal port in La Maddalena, we radio in to confirm our arrival After the Tangaroa was hosed down and cleaned up we all left the boat to have a walk around the town The Givseppe Garibaldi monument stands in prime position by the port Casa Natale di Giovanni Battista Chiesa Santa Maria Maddalena, the local church A service had just started as we arrive We have some drinks before dinner at Lio’s John and Angela discover this nice little restaurant in a nearby alleyway Ristorante Caprera before all the patrons arrived!! A wonderful display of fresh seafood We ordered 2 plates of mussels to share for starters John and Angela both ordered the pasta with seafood Ric orders the beefs strips with vegetables I order the my favourite Sardinian dish of Pesce al Forno con Pomodorini A larger fish than was ordered arrives, fortunately I had some willing helpers Dinner together at the delightful Ristorante Caprera John and Angela order the fabulous looking Panna cotta Ric and I order the beautifully presented Tiramasu to share Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
